A temptation but the Lego castle line came at a time when I was in my Dark Ages. The minifigs might swing the deal for me. After all, I bought the Mos Eisley Cantina set on the strength of the figures.
However, I'm sure that just as the Old Fishing Store and Mediaeval Blacksmith sets spawned a host of third-party accessory kits - Harbour Pub, Fisherman's Dockyard, etc - all in the same style exploring different aspects of the theme I am sure that other companies will produce castle sets that are equally impressive and a lot cheaper.
I bought a used Hogwarts Castle set - the minifig half-hall one - and that will serve as the basis for a castle if I want to build one. The textured bricks and new techniques make the anniversary set look hopelessly outdated in my eyes.
I'm sure those who lusted after these sets when they were young will take the opportunity now and good on them. But for me, if I want a castle, it will have a very different look and feel to it.
