Why not write an "onboarding" article restating your requirements? Just something with dot points and links to Medium policies or other resources. Casey Botticello should be required reading, for instance.

When accepting a new writer, in your response, send a link to your article, asking them to read and understand the pub from your editorial viewpoint.

New writers need some framework to follow, and these things get bookmarked or printed out and stuck on the wall or even memorised.

You provide a springboard to bigger things for many writers, who may not thank you on the way out of the door.

I've been writing here for nearly five years, and only yesterday had any interest in writing for a pub that wasn't my own little niche effort.

But I keep my eyes open, and I read.
