Now that the thing is over, I wonder about truth and reality and reason.

My estimate of 36% YES support was a little low.

I based that on the poll trends and the result of the 1999 preamble question which included the words:

…honouring Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders, the nation’s first people, for their deep kinship with their lands and for their ancient and continuing cultures which enrich the life of our country; …

I estimated that with a more complex proposal, the support would be a little lower than in 1999, and with Australia a more diverse nation, more people would be thinking that what they wanted was a more inclusive society where everybody got the same chance, regardless of origin or skin colour or orientation or whatever.
